With the boom of industry 4.0 and the fast-paced nature of technology in the 21st century, there is a need to look beyond and set our sights on industry 5.0. Currently, we’re living in the beginning of the connected age, where our devices, buildings, infrastructure, and everything in-between are connected and working together.
Here at IoT Alliance, we want to set our sights further to industry 5.0 and the concept of cybernetics. How does all this smart technology being developed and utilised help the world we live in? How can we create a balance between our technology, our environment, and humanity? In creating innovative technology, we need to remember the purpose behind it. At the core of our work this year, we want to bring the internet of things back to how we can grow and support our people and environment to ensure a prosperous, sustainable and connected New Zealand.
What’s happening at IoT Alliance in 2022?
Although COVID-19 has thrown us for a third time, there are certain areas of interest that we will be focusing on in 2022. These include:
- utilities, energy and transport
- cyber security
- environmental monitoring
- smart cities
- digital twins
Events
Due to the move to red, we will be focusing on producing webinars and exploring more digital content for our members to sink their teeth into. These will include roundtables, digital coffee meet-ups, and inform events with panellist speakers. Fingers crossed for a healthy second half of the year, where we can all connect at our in-person events.
