New Zealand IoT Alliance recently hosted our Annual Meeting last month, which showed the results of our recent election cycle, as well as our vision for the next 12 months. Thank you to all that attended and those who voted for our executive council member nominations.
IoT Alliance is pleased to welcome our two new executive council members, Keagan Lehnmann, from HEED Consulting, and Dr Yilei Zhang, from the University of Canterbury.
Keagan thrives on helping local and international businesses understand the digital landscape, build digital transformation strategies, and deliver world-class digital solutions backed by smart data management. Keagan has over 15 years of experience working with technology in various leadership roles across Software and Hardware Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Architecture, Technical PMO, AI/ML and IoT.
Dr Yilei Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Canterbury. Yilei’s research focuses on smart manufacturing and machine learning, where signals from sensors are collected and processed using neurocomputing algorithms. He recently opened a new course about Industry 4.0: Intelligent Design and Manufacturing, where IoT and Artificial Intelligence are introduced as the two key technologies that are transforming the traditional design and manufacturing industry. Yilei is interested in promoting IoT education to a broad audience, including industries, colleges and high schools.
From our Annual Meeting, the executive council outlined the vision and core activities of the IoT Alliance for the next 12 months. We will be hosting many events throughout the year, with plans to include themes covering smart cities, water, security, environmental monitoring, and sustainability. NZ IoT Alliance is also establishing new working groups covering smart cities, security, and education to help advance the adoption and innovation of IoT in Aotearoa. We have many partnerships in the works for 2022, including new and enhanced collaborations with government, industry, as well as education and training institutions.
We would also like to acknowledge and thank our departing executive council members, Sam Madanian, Jannat Maqbool and Tristan Ilich. You each brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the IoT Alliance; it was a pleasure to work alongside you and we appreciate all that you contributed to the alliance.
